Accepted Currencies

MoneyBadger does not support all Crypto tokens for merchant payments. We have a simple selection criteria for supporting tokens. Note: MoneyBadger does not currently support any on-chain (blockchain based) transactions.

  1. In order to convert crypto into Rand for merchant settlement, there must be sufficient local liquidity (buy demand) of that token so we may sell the received token for Rand at a reasonable price. We do not liquidate on international or defi markets to avoid cross-border transfers.

  2. Transactions must finalise quickly (in under 30 seconds).

  3. Transactions must not incur high transfer fees.

  4. Transactions must support to the same payment flow as credit cards (“authorise” → confirm or cancel)

Currently, MoneyBadger supports the following tokens / payment methods:

  • From Luno customers, any Luno supported token (we use an internal transfer as opposed to on-chain transactions): https://www.luno.com/help/en/articles/11000107492

  • Similarly, from VALR customers, any VALR supported token: https://www.valr.com/buysell

  • From Binance customers, USDT and BTC.

  • BTC via the Bitcoin Lightning Network (https://lightning.network/).
